Nationwide — Kaliyah Coa, an 11-year-old Black girl from the United Kingdom, has tragically been confirmed dead after falling into the River Thames on March 31. The heartbreaking incident occurred while she was attending a birthday celebration in North Woolwich. Kaliyah had the day off from school due to an inset day and was enjoying the outing when the accident took place near Barge House Causeway at approximately 1:23 p.m.
Following an extensive multi-agency search that lasted for nearly two weeks, a body was discovered in the River Thames on the morning of Sunday, April 13. The recovery took place near Maritime Quay, Isle of Dogs. Formal identification was carried out later and, on April 29, authorities confirmed that the body was that of Kaliyah Coa.
